Even after its diabetes tech business went public as MiniMed, Medtronic remained at the top of our Medtech Big 100 ranking of medtech companies based on revenue. With Johnson & Johnson MedTech planning to split off its DePuy Synthes orthopedic device business by mid-2027, Medtronic appears set to continue its reign as the largest medtech business in the world.
That’s but one of many insights we’ve gleaned from this year’s Medtech Big 100 — an annual report that we’ve produced for over a decade, now presented in its second year in an expanded special report format.
For the Medtech Big 100, we collect thousands of data points to rank and analyze the largest public and private medical device companies in the world. These figures include annual revenue, R&D spending, headcount, CEOs and key leaders, headquarters locations, and more. We have made efforts to double-check facts with all of the companies on the list.
Here are the 100 largest medical device companies in the world, ranked by annual revenue, and displaying their prior-year rank (that previous ranking is blank for companies that were not on last year’s list). Scroll below the chart to complete a few fields and download a free PDF of our Medtech Big 100 Special Report.
You can also watch an on-demand replay of our Medtech Big 100 Movers webinar with MDO’s editors discussing the companies making big moves on our list and key industry trends we’ve identified.
Keep on innovating,
Chris Newmarker, Editor-in-chief
