LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – Michigan residents can safely dispose of unused prescription medications Saturday during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., all 31 Michigan State Police posts will serve as drop-off sites across the state, including in the Greater Lansing area.
Health officials say expired and unused medications can increase the risk of accidental poisoning, medication errors and misuse, particularly when drugs remain in the home longer than needed.
Collected pills will be destroyed, and no questions will be asked. Liquids, inhalers, patches and syringes will not be accepted.
Residents who cannot participate Saturday can anonymously surrender prescription drugs at any Michigan State Police post Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays.
This year marks the 31st National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
