LAKE CITY, S.C. (WPDE) — Downtown Lake City turned into a hub of music, food and family fun Saturday as the Greater Lake City Chamber of Commerce held its annual Crossroads Music and Market Festival, an event organizers say is designed to bring people downtown and support local businesses.
Live music, food, games and family activities filled the downtown area.
The festival included performances from a local band and dancers, along with free face painting and photos for families.
ArtFields Junior served as the festival’s collaborator this year, with McLeod Health as the sponsor.
Kendall Follin, executive director of the Greater Lake City Chamber of Commerce, said the festival helps drive customers to downtown businesses.

“We have gotten some responses from our businesses that they see a huge increase in their Saturday sales whenever we have the festival going on and again that’s always our goal is to support those business owners so we’re super excited about that,” Follin said.
“What makes Lake City so unique is that one organization can be doing something and then you have an entire community coming together to support it, so that’s what I love about Lake City and that’s what keeps me in Lake City is the community and I’m just so excited and grateful to be here.”
Earlier Saturday more than a dozen cars and motor vehicles lined South Church Street for the festival’s car show.
Follin said past festivals have drawn crowds of more than 1,500 people.
With this year’s festival now complete, organizers are already planning a bigger event next year, including more sponsorships and more opportunities for local businesses to get involved.
