BOSTON — A Pittsfield pharmacist has been charged in federal court with allegedly unlawfully taking Adderall and its generic equivalent from a CVS Pharmacy in Barnstable County.
Joshua Bradley, 30, of Pittsfield, is facing five counts of acquiring a controlled substance by fraud, deception and subterfuge.
According to the Department of Justice, while working as a pharmacist for the chain, Bradley allegedly took dextroamphetamine-amphetamine that was intended for customers for his own personal use on four separate occasions in August, September and November 2024. He also allegedly diverted Adderall on one occasion in November 2024.
Dextroamphetamine-amphetamine is the generic equivalent of Adderall.
Often prescribed to treat attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, the stimulant medications are Schedule II controlled substances according to the Food and Drug Administration, meaning they have a high potential for abuse.
The Department of Justice also said that their investigation was supported by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department and police departments of several towns in the county. The alleged events did not occur in Pittsfield.
The charges carry a maximum sentence of four years in prison.
Bradley is set to appear in federal District Court in Boston on Sept. 9.
