A beloved Michigan bakery is resuming operations after briefly suspending production due to sanitation and pest control issues.
Quality Dairy is again making doughnuts and rolls at its bakery in Lansing, the company announced Wednesday evening on Facebook. The bakery shut down on Oct. 8 following an inspection by state food safety officials.
“To our customers and the entire community: THANK YOU,” Quality Dairy said in the social media post. “Your patience, understanding and trust mean so much to us.”
The company said it worked with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to address the food safety concerns.
Quality Dairy, known to generations of Michigan State University students as “QD,” is a local staple with long roots in Lansing.
The company operates 26 stores in the Greater Lansing area and is celebrating 90 years in business this year, its website said.
In addition to baked goods, QD produces Michigan-made dairy products including milk and ice cream, as well as cider from Michigan apples.
