    The platform’s inaugural Top 100 Indian Restaurants ranking, released October 29, puts LA Indian Cuisine in Castaic, California, at No. 1. The counter-service restaurant in Los Angeles County has a five-star rating from more than 500 reviewers, with diners praising its food and welcoming atmosphere. Mumbai House in Park City, Utah, takes second place, followed by Zen Curry and Grill in Temecula, California. California accounts for 10 restaurants on the list, the maximum Yelp included from any state.

    To compile the ranking, Yelp evaluated businesses serving Indian cuisine using factors including review ratings and volume. Yelp capped the list at 10 restaurants per state to ensure broader geographic representation. All listed restaurants have a passing health score.

    The list arrives amid growing interest in the cuisine on the platform. In its 2026 Food and Drink Trend Forecast, Yelp reports a 437% increase in searches for “Indian food buffet near me.”

    Hospitality helps the top restaurants stand out

    “What the top restaurants on this year’s list share is hospitality,” Yelp trend expert Tara Lewis tells Food & Wine. “At Spice Station in Kingsville, Texas [ranked No. 4], the owner hands out samples to help newcomers order, and at Maaji’s Street Kitchen in Saint Ann, Missouri, the chef teaches diners to play Carrom, a traditional Indian board game.”

    Spice Station ranks fourth, while Maaji’s Street Kitchen rounds out the top 10. Both illustrate how a personal welcome can become as memorable as the meal.

    Butter chicken and regional specialties draw diners

    At second-ranked Mumbai House, reviewers praise chicken makhani, or butter chicken. That enthusiasm extends beyond Park City.

    “Yelp users want the comfort of the classics, with a side of convenience,” Lewis says. “Butter chicken searches hit an all-time high on Yelp in February, and dishes like chicken tikka masala, biryani, and garlic naan come up again and again in reviews.”

    The ranking also highlights restaurants serving regional Indian specialties. Fifth-ranked Tikka Indian Cuisine in Venice, Florida, features Goan cooking, while Hot N Chili in San Clemente, California, takes sixth place with Punjabi-style dishes. At No. 7, Mesa in Jacksonville, Florida, showcases flavors of Kerala.

    Nepali momos earn a following, too

    The list also includes restaurants serving Nepali and Himalayan dishes. Yelp’s trend team notes particular interest in dumplings among Gen Z diners, and momos are among the draws at third-ranked Zen Curry and Grill. Diners can also find momos at Himali Bistro in Burlingame, California, which ranks eighth, and Curry & Momo Himalayan Restaurant in Glendale, Wisconsin, at No. 90.

    Released ahead of Diwali, the festival of lights, the ranking offers plenty of places to bookmark for a celebratory meal — or your next takeout order.
