ARCHIMED’s Healthcare IT team has acquired a majority stake in 3verest, a UK-based healthcare-dedicated private, sovereign cloud infrastructure provider. Its founder and CEO, Scott Crawford, who built the business from the ground up without outside capital, remains a significant shareholder and continues to lead the company.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Founded in 2016, 3verest hosts and protects the imaging data that radiology departments rely on for diagnosis, under the laws of the country that data belongs to, and is expanding into cardiology, pathology and other imaging-intensive specialities. It owns and operates its own infrastructure rather than reselling capacity from a global hyperscaler, so that the data it holds sits in the region a provider chooses but under that region’s legal jurisdiction.
“On a hyperscaler you choose a region and hope,” says ARCHIMED partner Anthony Farias. “The capacity is pooled, the replicas move, and the parent company still answers to a foreign court. On 3verest you can name the datacentre, the operating entity, and the jurisdiction and that doesn’t shift.”
Medical imaging creates one of the most demanding workloads in healthcare. Imaging is growing in volume, size, and complexity, while healthcare providers are moving sensitive patient data to private, sovereign cloud environments with enhanced security. By keeping imaging data instantly available, secure, and compliant in complex regulatory and security environments, 3verest contributes to faster, more reliable diagnoses for patients.
Working with Crawford and his team, ARCHIMED will accelerate 3verest’s development.
“We’ll focus on extending 3verest’s presence in continental Europe, broadening its certifications, and deepening its partnerships with imaging vendors,” says Farias. “Sovereignty has moved from a procurement footnote to a mandate condition, and very few providers can provide it. 3verest can take that capability into new countries and new clinical specialties.”
